Ohio begins its Medical Marijuana Program on September 8, 2018. There is some question about when the dispensaries will be operational but Stillwater Medicine will be ready to begin seeing patients in the Cincinnati area so that qualified Ohio residents will be able to legally purchase Medical Marijuana when it is available.
As a physician with prior experience in recommending Medical Marijuana, I am excited about the way that Ohio has crafted their legislation. Ohio has committed itself to regulateing the growth, testing, and retail of medical marijuana in a way that really allows patients to obtain the medical benefits that cannabis has to offer. In other states that I have worked in, I was allowed to recommend the use of Marijuana, but the patient was often left on their own when it came to finding dosages, strains, and quantities. It often felt more like I just legitimizing recreational because there was no way to take advantage of the newer research about CBD ratios and terpene profiles and there was no way to ensure that the patient was purchasing what I had recommended.
With Ohio's Medical Marijuana program, patients see a doctor who has taken the required training and the state then supplies the patient with the appropriate documentation to legally purchase medical marijuana. Our physicians, who have completed not only the 4 hour state required training but are also board certified in integrative medicine, can offer patients specific advice on doses, frequency of use, CBD:THC ratios, terpene profiles, and side effects with other medicines and supplements. We also make recommendations regarding diet, supplements, exercise and meditation if relevant to patient's diagnosis.
Our schedule is now open to qualified patients and the process is outlined on the website. We are taking appointments for September, October, and November. Please contact our physicians at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have questions or encounter difficulties with the website.
